Boys and Girls Clubs of America
The Mission of The Boys and Girls Clubs of America is to enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
East African Girls’ Leadership Initiative
The East African Girls’ Leadership Initiative is a pilot effort that’s engaging deeply with 10 girls (five in Kenya and five in Tanzania from Maasai communities) to develop their skills, capabilities, knowledge, and confidence so that as adult women they can be successful community leaders and effective advocates for indigenous peoples and the environment at national and international levels, too.
Apneaap is an organization working to increase choices for at-risk girls and women in order to ensure access to their rights, and to deter the purchase of sex through policy and social change. They envision a world where every woman and girl can realize her full potential.
Dress for Success
Dress for Success works to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
Focusing on Others
Sometimes the best way to stop worrying about what’s going in your life, is to spend a little time focusing on others. For those too busy to squeeze in a trip to the local animal shelter or non-profit office, consider volunteering online. The United Nations’ award-winning internet hub can help match you to a human development program that needs your skills, or join forces with the World Volunteer Web to find the issue that’s right for you.
