The mission of The PACER Center (Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights) is to expand opportunities and to enhance the quality of life for children and young adults with disabilities and their families, based on the concept of parents helping parents.

Founded in 1977, The PACER Center was created by parents of children and youth with disabilities to help other parents and families facing similar challenges. PACER is staffed primarily by the parents of children with disabilities, and works in concert with 18 disability organizations. With assistance to individual families, workshops, materials for parents and professionals, and leadership in securing a free and appropriate public education for all children, PACER’s work helps families in their home state of Minnesota, as well as across the nation. Local PACER centers work with other local parent action networks through the National Parent Technical Assistance Center.

The National Parent Technical Assistance Center is affiliated with local parent centers in every state nationwide. Most of these parent centers are volunteer-run with the specific mission of giving back to their community. You can find a local parent center here:

This is a great opportunity for parents, family members, and loved ones to get involved in supporting those with learning disabilities. It’s also a great way to find the support that you need in your local community.
